"Chikyu" is software for the purpose of generating Google Earth compatible place files (KML) in conjunction with a GPS receiver for geocaching or photo tagging.
When the device or the desktop is online a current position can be viewed in Google Maps while a simple weather station will provide local weather data.
Chikyu is also capable of recording tracks in GPX and CSV formats and is further equipped with a GPS compass which includes current data of the sun and the moon, speed, course and heading.
A coordinate converter converts from WGS 84 (that's the datum Google Earth uses) to UTM and all known worldwide datum formats. Moon phase data is computed for 30 days, full and new moon dates for 5 months.
Please appreciate that application of this software provides familiarity with computers, Pocket PCs, basic GPS technology and Google Earth.
CAUTION PLEASE
Chikyu is not a navigation aid and designed for walking only with full attention to traffic and terrain. It must NOT be used on moving vehicles or under severe weather conditions!
