"Shashin" is software for the purpose of generating Google Earth compatible place files (KML) in conjunction with a GPS receiver specifically for photo tagging. Please appreciate that application of this software provides familiarity with computers, Pocket PCs, basic GPS technology and Google Earth.
CAUTION PLEASE Shashin is not a navigation aid and designed for walking only with full attention to traffic and terrain. It must not be used on moving vehicles or under severe weather conditions! • Engage GPS and wait until it is stable. • Take a photo with your digital camera. • Enter the image file name, such as dsc0117.jpg. • Add author data and a comment and save the file. • Send your images to your web server or a local directory without changing file names. • Copy the KML file from the PPC to the desktop and double-click to launch Google Earth. • Google Earth will turn to the coordinates saved in the KML file and show a camera icon. • Click on the camera icon to view your photo and comments. Make sure to enter your server URL or a local storage location in 'Settings'. Help for Settings is available. A sample KML is included in the application directory for reference. Copy the KML to the desktop and double-click on it.
