ABOUT VB RUNTIMES
Software written in Microsoft's "embedded Visual Basic" (eVB) require runtime files to operate. Runtime files contain essential functions that eVB programs rely on. Pocket PCs with WM5.0/6.0 operating systems basically require .NET based software, however, some models run eVB software without problems after installation of the VB runtimes, while others won't.
Previously, eVB program installers installed the runtimes alongside the program files. At uninstall, however, the runtimes were disabled rendering other eVB applications inoperable. eVB program installers on this site do not include runtimes in that you will need to install the runtimes post or prior to the application. This once-only additional step eliminates the trouble of reinstalling runtimes for remaining eVB applications after program removal.
VB runtimes are no longer supported, nor provided by Microsoft. They are hosted on this server for convenience only:
Download VB Runtimes (1.5MB)
Please UNZIP and copy the decompressed file 'runtime2005.xscale 2003 (4k) v4.20.cab' to the Pocket PC underneath My Documents. Then use the File Explorer to locate the CAB and tap on it to commence automatic installation. Note that this version is for ARM/Xscale processor based Pocket PCs. SH3 and MIPS devices are not supported.
